The source of all evil is the Devil. It was the Devil who tempted Adam and Eve to commit the first sin of humanity.
On the other hand, the source of all good is God. (Genesis 1:31)
These mass school shootings are evil, obviously. What is the source of this evil? Guns? Many ages ago before the first gun was ever invented, Cain killed Abel. The Bible does not say what the murder weapon was. It could have been a rock. It could have been some type of wooden club. Maybe a tool. Probably a knife. A knife seems the most likely. (He might have killed him with his bare hands. )
What we know for sure is that it wasn’t an AR 15. Whoopi Goldberg might argue that it was but just because she played a nun in that one movie does not make her a legit theologian.
Let’s imagine that the murder weapon was a rock. People have been killed with rocks before. If so, it wasn’t the rock that was evil. Cain was evil.
1 John 3:12 “Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.”
When Cain murdered Abel, God didn’t punish the rock (or whatever the weapon was). He punished the guy who used the rock to do something evil.
Did you know that you can do evil things with all kinds of inanimate objects?
The utopia of the liberals is a world that is gun-free, in which the only ones that have guns are those in law enforcement. Yet such a world already exists. It’s called prison.
Isn’t it interesting how criminals in prison find ways to still hurt and murder their fellow inmates in a gun free environment? When is the last time politicians wrote a law to ban toothbrushes? Notice that when a criminal uses a toothbrush as a “shiv” to hurt someone, they don’t throw the toothbrush “in the hole”. Instead they put the criminal there.
Was it a rock that inspired Cain to become evil? No. According to 1st John 3:12 it was “that wicked one”, the Devil.
These evil individuals shooting up children are not being inspired to do evil by guns any more than Cain was inspired by a rock. They are inspired by Satan. They are demonically influenced. In fact, I believe they are demon possessed. Senseless violence is one of the characteristics of those who were demon possessed in the Bible. (See Matthew 8:28-32, Mark 5:1-5, Acts 19:14, Matthew 17:15.)
Our society is increasingly becoming more and more evil all the time. The Bible forewarned us that this would happen. 2 Timothy 3:13 “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse” This was one of the characteristics of the perilous times of the last days (2 Tim. 3:1).
Why the increase of evil in society today? The answer is godlessness.
They have kicked God out of the public schools. There was a time in our country when public school teachers began their classes with prayer and taught their students how to read from a King James Bible. Back in those days, public schools commonly had gun clubs where young boys were taught gun safety and how to properly handle and shoot firearms. Some kids even brought their own rifles to school to participate in such classes. Yet, no one was ever worried for their children’s safety.
Back then, children respected authority and society in general was God-fearing. Society was not without its problems. But mass school shootings were unheard of.
What happened? I’ll tell you exactly what happened. Public schools have become godless. Society today is more godless than ever before. Morality is going down the drain faster than ever before. And the more godless society becomes, the more dangerous society becomes (2 Tim. 3:1), and the more evil increases as evil men become worse and worse (2 Tim. 3:13). Less godly influence will only result in more demonic activity.
Today, children are taught that there is no God. They are led to believe that belief in God is unscientific and uneducated. They are taught evolution. They are taught that monkeys are their ancestors.
They are also told that abortion is a viable option because the baby in the womb is not really a life but rather just a clump of cells. They are taught that their career is more important than the child in the womb.
2nd Timothy 3:1 “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves…without natural affection…fierce, despisers of those that are good…lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God”
Today, young people are encouraged to fornicate all they want while bearing no responsibility and fearing no consequences.
If you are going to teach your children that they are animals, then do not complain when they behave like animals. If you are going to raise your children without God, then do not complain when they behave demonically instead. If you are going to argue that life does not begin at conception and therefore what is in the womb is worthless, than do not complain when young people demonstrate a lack of value for life.
When you take God out of the equation, the only other alternative is the Devil. When the source of all good is taken away, of course the opposite alternative, which is evil, will dominate. It’s not rocket science. If there is no godly influence, there is no alternative to combat the influence of evil. Evil will prevail.
The problem back in Cain’s day was not a rock. The problem in our day is not a gun.
Guns are not inherently evil. I am a legal gun owner. None of my guns have ever tried to murder me, attack me, slander me, hate me, or rape me. Not one time. Also, I have seen many rocks in my day. None of them have ever done me any wrong either.
The problem today is the prevalence of evil. The problem is the vilification of all that God and the Bible calls good. Society has made bad guys out of those (Christians, Bible preachers) who promote what God says is good. Every thing that God calls an abomination, today society doesn’t just tolerate and accept it, now they celebrate it! Everything that the Bible calls good, and holy, and godly, they have labeled as bigoted, hateful, uneducated, unscientific, and judgmental.
The Bible says in Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
God is the source of all good (Gen. 1:31). Satan is the source of all evil (Gen. 3:1, 2 Cor. 11:3).
How can we defeat such evil? Through Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ is the answer. Always has been and always will be.
Christianity is the solution. I’m not talking about religion. I’m talking about the real deal. Lot’s of folks claim to be Christians when really all they have is religion. In fact, some of the most evil men that ever lived called themselves Christians. They were not Christians. Satan is a master of deception and creating confusion on purpose.
However, once someone truly knows Jesus Christ they will have a real, personal relationship with Him. And because they sincerely love Jesus they will take seriously his commandments to love their neighbors as themselves (Matthew 22:37-40).
Imagine a world where everyone loved their neighbors as themselves. Jesus even went so far as to teach that we ought to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:27). Boy that’s hard! But imagine a world where everyone put that into practice.
Loving others as yourself would eliminate all hatred, racism, crime, jealousies, poverty, violence, and every other problem in society that all the politicians and talking heads have no real solution for. Mark 10:27 “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”
The very thing that could fix all these evils is the very thing society today doesn’t want. Folks don’t want Jesus. They want to live a godless life and yet reap all the benefits that come from God such as peace, love, goodness, joy, etc (Galatians 5:22-23). They want what comes from the fountain, but they don’t want the fountain. They want the blessings of life without the Blesser of Life. It doesn’t work.
I love America but unless the U.S.A. repents and returns to God (Ps. 9:17) expect for these mass shootings to only get worse. Just like the Bible said in 2nd Timothy 3:1-13.
The good news, for the Christian, is that we know that Jesus will one day return to this earth according to the Bible. And when He does, He will fix all of this mess. What a wonderful day that will be!
